Six Easy Steps To Run

1. Sign Up:

Click on the link below to bring up the contract.
Print it out.
Fill it out completely, sign it, and return it with a Voided Check or a
scan or xerox copy of your credit card and drivers license.

If you have any questions, feel free to call (816)455-1600
or bring the machine down for a free configuration and lesson. For numbers outside of Kansas City be sure to call and get the numbers first before proceding.

2. Checking Your Modem:

Click Start - Settings - Control Panel.
Then Double-Click the Modems Icon.
This will open the modem Properties Applet.

Click on the diagnostics tab to get the following.

Click on the line that has your modem, then click More info…
to perform modem diagnostics check.

The above information may vary from system to system but the important
thing to check is that there are no errors and the Interupt and Address at
the top are not zero.
If everything is OK on this Modem check, continue to Part 3.
Checking your Network. If this screen fails to appear or shows excessive
errors, then your system is not ready to install any dialup internet service.
Reinstall your modem and/or drivers or take your machine
down to be professionally serviced.

3. Checking Your Network

Go back to Control Panel and double-click on Network to open your Network applet.

You should see at least the above 3 items. If you see these 3 skip to step 4.
Dial Up Networking.

If you don’t see Client for Microsoft networks, then click Add - Client - Add

- Microsoft - Client for Microsoft networks.
Then click OK.
If you don’t see Dial up adapter, go back to control panel and
double-click Add/Remove programs. Then click the Windows Setup tab.

Double-click Communications and check Dial Up Networking. Then click OK.

If you don’t see TCP/IP:
then click Add - Protocol - Add.

Click Microsoft then scroll down and click TCP/IP. Click OK then Click OK again.
You may need your Windows 98 disk at that time. When you are finished and rebooted
your Network properties should look like the first illustration in this section.

4. Dial up Networking

Double-Click My Computer. Double-Click Dial Up Networking. At that time you may see this:

If you don’t see this double-click the Make New Connection icon. Type in vaughns.com
in place of the words My Connection. Click Next.

Type in the area code 816 click tab and then the phone number 256-4035.
(If you live outside the Kansas City area please call 1-816-455-1600
to get local numbers for your area.) Click Next. Then Click Finish.

Then right click on vaughns.com and left click properties.

If you live in Missouri and are local to KC area calling,
click off the Use area code and dialing properties checkmark.
(If you have call waiting, type *70, before the 256-4035 and if you have
SWB call notes type in 4 commas before 256-4035). Click the Server Types tab.

Click off Log onto network, NetBEUI, and IPX/SPX Compatible. Click OK.

Click Connections - Settings.

Click redial and specify 99 for Before giving up retry.
Click OK.
Now drag the vaughns.com icon out onto the desktop for easy access.
Double Click it, enter your email address and password and click connect.

5. Setting up Internet Explorer

Open Internet explorer by double-clicking the globe
or single clicking the blue e next to the start button
at the lower left hand corner of the screen. If the
Internet Connection wizard starts then select the third
choice “Use existing settings or connect through a LAN”
then click next. When it asks if you would like to set
up mail click no. After that Internet Explorer should
open normally.

Click Tools Internet Options.

Under Home Page type http://www.vaughns.com then click Connections.

Click vaughns.com and then Click dial whenever a network connection
is not present. Click OK. Click Home.

6. Mail Setup

From Internet Explorer click Mail - Read Mail.

If the Internet Connection Wizard doesn’t autostart then click Tools - Accounts.

Click the Mail tab - Click Add - Click Mail.

Type in Your full name using Capitals where appropriate. Click Next.

Type in your user name in all small letters as it appears on your reciept
and add @vaughns.com to create your email address. Click Next.

Leave in POP3 and in the Incoming mail box type pop.vaughns.com
all small letters no spaces. Also in Outgoing mail type smtp.vaughns.com
Click Next.

Under account name type in your user name (whole email address) and under password type your password.
If you check the box to remember password, you won’t be asked each time you check your mail.
Click Next. Click Finish. Then Click Tools - Accounts - Mail (TAB) - click pop.vaughns.com - Properties - Server (TAB).
Check the bottom box That says my server requires authentication. Click OK then click Close.
You are now ready to use vaughns.com Internet Service. If you have any problems using Outlook Express you
can always use the web based email by clicking on the link on the vaughns.com homepage or by typing
mail.vaughns.com into your browsers address bar.
